Killing our heritage? One victim is ERNIE.

Published with permission. Please watch on YouTube.

My thanks to Dave at Northsider for the heads up.  What happens here is a national disgrace.

Restore and refurbish the iconic ERNIE Premium Bonds building and use it as an IT College, or a technical museum, or a university, or perhaps a tourist attraction to rival the famous Blackpool Tower, or a concert house,  or an art gallery, or an aquarium, or the centerpiece of a great and splendid public garden?

No chance!

Fait accompli.

Luxury development.

That's it.

    1. I know it's architecture is not to everybody's taste, but importantly it's an historical chapter in the story of a nation getting back on it's feet after the war.

It's sad, because we tend to look in the short term today. Financial gain is the only game in town. In Vienna it's basically the same story. A very fine building only 20 years old is being demolished for reasons no one can understand. Here they say the architects have done more damage than the allied bombs.
There's a big trail going on here at the moment concerning back handers and building contracts. It's called the buwog affair.

      Froze

That's a poem by Spellchecker. I'm trying to type a Christmas greeting - Frohe Weihnachten!

At least Stonehenge is still standing.
