A word from Odysseas Elytis

At 'Defend Democracy Press' there's a quote from Odysseas Elytis (Nobel Prize Winner for Literature 1979):

"It's barbarism. I see it coming masqueraded under lawless alliances and predetermined enslavements. It may not be about Hitler's furnaces, but about the methodical and quasi-scientific subjugation of man. His absolute humiliation. His disgrace."

This is not a Trojan Horse, although they do come in
many shades and colours

  1. 'Beware of Greeks bearing gifts' - does this fit in with the poem anywhere? I don't know how I know the quotation but my father was always fond of saying it in appropriate situations.

    1. Wow! You were quick. I hadn't finished. Maybe the quote from 'Defend Democracy Press' was not there when you commented.

  4. Magyar: Your "question that which is under the paint." I like that. The paint these days is an oil (with an attractive gloss). Not an aquarelle. .

The people on the pictured horse have no foes - they are dealing openly - selling us their bread and cakes.

  5. There is a green elephant statue and other endangered species sculptures in Clonakilty. They are there to show people they are losing their homes. I like the Trojan horse.

    1. They are auctioning them on eBay. Some of the animals, such as the colorful toucan, have been sold. There's still a chance to bid for a green elephant ;-)
Photos of the animals were taken in Edinburgh in 2011.
