Anticipating summer holidays.

One thing I've decided to do to pass my time and keep cabin fever at bay is to plan a little holiday.

I shall start near the Great Orme, a place which holds fond memories for me. It was there  I 'officially' finished my cycle ride from the Severn Estuary to the North Wales Coast some 20 years ago.

The mode of transport for the forthcoming adventure has yet to be decided. I fancy taking the steam train through the Snowdonia National Park using the mountain railway from Caernarvon to Porthmadog

Are any of you thinking of taking a post-Covid-19 holiday break later in the year? I'm interested to see if people will be reluctant to travel far and wide once this thing is ended.

Have just discovered I have something called 'comic effect' amongst my photo tools. I think it's cool.

  1. I had a trip to Romania on 25 April. It has now been officially cancelled and a new date set, 5th June. I said the to booking agent that it would appear to me unlikely to happen. She said we just run with a date and BA have flights scheduled for then so we take a slot. I go with the flow. I have made a new page in my Romania book, new dates, new flight numbers, new hotel, I wonder how many pages I will use up in doing this.

    1. I remember you had a Romanian trip arranged. I hope it all goes smoothly with revised dates. It could happen if the covid-19 succumbs to warm weather and longer daylight like a normal corona.

  2. I would love to go to Dorset again Gwil and find some more Thomas Hardy places from his novels. Have you been to Symonds Yat?

    1. Dorset is a great place. My brother has outlaws there. I've trod some Jurassic coast but not been to Symonds Yat.

    2. Outlaws? Is he related to Robin Hood?😊

Hay on Wye is a fascinating place to visit, Full of second hand book shops. Well it was twenty years ago.

    3. It’s twenty years since I’ve been in those Hay on Wye bookshops too. I can spend a whole day in such places.

  3. My son and his wife never holiday anywhere other than Wales Gwil. My DIL is a semi invalid and feels comfortable going there. I dare say they will head off there again as soon as the emergency is over - but goodness knows when that will be.

    1. As I was saying to Rachel I'm hoping the covid-19 will pack it's bags and disappear when flaming June gets to grips with him. Wales is a comfortable place. That's another of its assets.

  4. Gwil, I thank you... this grand spark to my imagination! _m

    Back yard.
    I hear the birds
    singing to this silence;
    my chair squeaking in harmony.
    Echos.

    1. Hello Magyar. Thanks for sharing your bardic thoughts. I’ve noticed animals are becoming less shy. May your chair squeak in harmony for many a day yet.
