Italy (19 March 2020 update*)
A paining by Franco Rivolli on a house wall in Venice featured on the front page of today's Kronen Zeitung newspaper in Austria shows an Italian health worker holding the body of the nation of Italy the first European country to record 1,000 covid-19 deaths. The last 189 of them in 24 hours.
*Today 19th March 2020 saw Italy (now 3405 victims) overtake China. Ironically the only country helping Italy is China which is flying in corona virus experts and medical equipment.

Poor Italy, it seemed to attack them very quickly.
ReplyDeletePoor Italy indeed. Another 250 deaths in Italy today Cro. But the rest of Europe is not immune.
DeleteScary to say the least.
ReplyDeleteChildren in Austria have been told to stay away from their grandparents. They can have it and show no symptoms. It’s very contagious and the older you are the greater the risk. Be careful.
DeleteA take-away food delivery worker came back from the Far East and should have quarantined but he didn't and then it went from there and Italy got a big whammy.
ReplyDeleteThanks for comments. Austrian Tirol just got whammied. Four or five ski resorts placed under quarantine. Arlberg - Ischgl area. In all of Austria from Monday only essential shops (food etc.) and banks, post offices to open. Bars cafes and pubs can open but must close by 3 pm. An 800 bed hospital is being prepared in a big hall in Vienna. I hope we don’t need it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I hope governments, federal and local, can stay, at least, on top of this crisis.
ReplyDeleteHope so too. In Italy 174 covid-19 deaths reported today.
DeleteIn Austria another town Heiligenstadt am Grossglockner owas placed under quarantine bringing the total quarantine areas in the last two days to 6. The problem is they are all ski resorts and holiday makers including 861 from Scandinavia have taken the virus home with them.
That should be Heiligenblut.
Delete21/3/20 - 793 deaths in 24 hrs in Italy — relentlessly upward. Keep distance. Johns Hopkins recommend minimum of 2 meters.
