Untitled

Who knows for certain?
Who shall here declare it?
  Whence it was born?
  Whence came creation?

The gods are later
than this world's formation.
  Who then can know
  the origins of the world?

None knows
whence creation arose.

  Or whether he has
  or has not made it,
he who surveys it from the lofty skies.

Only he knows
or perhaps
he knows not.

    1. Sagan's life is evidence that there is despite daily appearances to the contrary a modicum of intelligent life in the universe. Thanks Pat.

Sadly another religious blood letting in Cairo today, but then again it's Friday.

  2. If we were all like the nuns in my convent the world would be a different and a better place. Education and love were most important, and passed on to me, in particular the love of fellow man, which is probably why I come out with some of the most simplistic posts and comments in our blog circle and get the most mud chucked at me. But I still believe it.

    1. This morning on RAI 1 TV I caught the back end of a religious discussion on the need to care for the world's children. They are the future. Important after the basic necessities and desirables of life, food shelter peace love etc, have been taken care of it seems to me is a broad education and a depth of understanding.

    2. __ Although it is a commercial (Lincoln, automobile advertisement), a quick google of "Olivia's Wish list," simplistically points to the importance of that Religion of Life; the joy of a child's life wish.

    3. Thanks Magyar, I enjoyed her dreams!

Go and catch a falling star,
Get with child a mandrake root,
Tell me where all past years are,
Or who cleft the Devil's foot,
Teach me to hear Mermaids singing,
Or to keep off envy's tinging,
      And find
      What wind
Serves to advance an honest mind.
