    1. Many thanks Magyar. I've finished this picture now, and sailed with it to Poet-in-Residence, in all its colourful glory :) .

  3. I don't understand the meaning of the drawing, Gwil but I like it, also its "chirpy" colourful twin at Poet-in-Residence.
13 is a lucky number here, but I believe not so in other countries.
    Greetings Maria x

    1. Saluto e buon giorno,
The meaning: that birds have no boundaries - no lines drawn on maps - no passports - they are basically free to move about Europe in particular and the world in general. The number 13 is lucky in Italy I'm pleased to learn! Some people say 13 is unlucky because there were 13 at the Last Supper. In Britain 13 is lucky and unlucky depending on where you are. But I will come to the reason for my 13 birds in today's post.
      Ciao, G.

    2. Grazie mille Gwil! How silly of me not to understand your drawing!
13 is only unlucky here if there are 13 people seated at a dinner table, for the same reasons you mention; L'Ultima Cena.

    3. Ball number 13 is lucky in Bingo if you have it on your card - "Lucky for some - one and three - thirteen!" the caller likes to announce.

    4. More than once I've heard people say: "Ooh, I wouldn't want to live in that house. It's number 13."

Yesterday I watched a film about a big fire in a Vienna Theatre in the 19th cent. when over 400 people perished. The theater's address was number 7. And 7 as we all know is a lucky number.

    5. I have seen in some hotels overseas, in Europe, and also in the South Tyrol, where the room number 13 was used as a storage room, no number on the door.
I have been told, but don't know how true this is, that in some countries the houses are numbered as: 11,12,12a,14...
      Ciao x

    1. I had deleted the script - i.e. the music, and my link to "I Whistle a Happy Tune" - Link blocked. Presumably copyright challenge from 1952 !!! The world is mad I tell you. If I didn't laugh I'd cry.
