We cannot say.

We
may be proud
of our education,
but
if
asked
what we are,
we cannot
say.

  1. Of course not. For all the progress that has been made both there and in many other countries in the world - women are still 'owned' by their husbands. They have no identity of their own. We in this country (I am speaking about the indigenous population here) have no idea what it must be like. There is still a very long way to go.

    1. Thanks Pat. Yours is one interpretation. Not the one I was thinking of but equally valid. I can think of a couple more ways of 'solving' the 'puzzle'.

    1. Hi Dave, The women and their colours brighten the scene. Make it more beautiful some would say. The other thing is: They are present in the sense that they are there 'ghosts in the machine'. And as you mention the Christians, well there's the 'holy ghost'. Middle picture?

  3. Hi Gwil. They're great photos. Their caption even looks cross like.

    1. I photographed a video I saw in a museu. Then saved my three 'stills' which gave me the 'story' I was after. For the caption I took a quote from a back cover book review and kept the meaning but used less words. I experimented with the shape and size of the text until I thought the final choice was suitable. The colours for the text were for me self selecting. I didn't consider any other colours.

    1. I've no idea Rachel. I was reading yesterday that they can detect how many thousands of anti-baby pills have been taken each day by sampling the water in the sewerage at 11 am every morning. They also test for plastic in stools and they've never found one without plastic in it. I dread to think what other goodies they find that we don't know about. The birth rate is in the cellar anyway. Wasn't it 0.9 per couple in Germany? I think they said it was the world's lowest. But as long as we have food in the shops and plastic to buy it with I suppose we can count ourselves lucky.
